About this project:
These works are part of the “The Long Journey to Freedom” Project that the Artists of Colour have begun to construct. It will be an historic art exhibit that will celebrate, and relay the story of our enslavement and the long journey back to freedom. This exhibit will teach our children and their children, the significance of the Emancipation Proclamation by making them aware of the courage and determination of a people who refused to be enslaved. It will tell of those, white and black, who stood up against the injustice and demoralization of slavery, who risked their lives and their livelihood to oppose the injustices inflicted upon their brothers. They unselfishly dedicated themselves for the cause of liberty. As the exhibit nears its’ final stage, information will be announced at that time on the premiere of this exhibit. |
