Jim Walls - Jazz Musican - Actor

Educator – Musician – Actor - Vocalist

Jim Walls is a retired educator who worked for the Greater Essex County District School Board for more than thirty-five years. He was born in Kingsville, Ontario, but grew up and was educated in Windsor for the most part, attending Begley School, Dougall Avenue School, and then Patterson Collegiate. After graduating from high school, Jim attended Central State University, near Dayton Ohio for a year then returned to Windsor to complete his undergrad and graduate degrees at the University of Windsor.
Jim began his teaching career at Begley School, teaching Special Education.
Through-out his thirty-five year career, he taught music and drama, physical education and all core subjects from junior kindergarten to grade 8 before being appointed Vice-Principal then Principal. Jim is proud to have been the first black Principal appointed to the Greater Essex County District School Board and has served as Principal of three different schools before retiring from Dr. H. D. Taylor School in 2005.
