Letters of Support
"It is essential to keep our local history and our heritage alive and to celebrate our past with art, which we can all understand despite our differences, our language, our customs, and that is why I support The Artists of Colour in everything they do."
Percy Hatfield
Councilor, City of Windsor
"The Artists of Colour begin in existence for only three years have contributed greatly to the knowledge of the Historical Sandwich Baptist Church terminus of the underground railway. They have our utmost support and respect."
Dr. Collin W. Smith, Pastor
Sandwich Baptist Church, Windsor ON.
"Mackenzie Hall comes alive with the diverse and international crowd that The Artists of Colour exhibition attracts each February. People of all ages, backgrounds and cultures drop by to learn about the artists and their art. As a former educator, I am impressed with the sessions that are held to inform visitors about art history, current activities and future movements. It has been a pleasure to see the exhibit grow over the years from a weekend show using three rooms to an exhibit that now runs a week and incorporates two floors of the Hall. Its success is inspiring." Gloria Jung,
A renewed sense of excitement fills the air when the Artists of Colour hold their annual show at Mackenzie Hall. The group and their exhibits have such positive effects upon members of the community whether encouraging participation in the show or stirring the curiosity of those attending to search out more information through the exploration of history.
At a time when Windsor and many of its surrounding communities are dealing with job losses and the economic decline, the Artists of Colour and their show bring hope, encouragement and a sense of worth and opportunity to all who witness it. Ronald Jones : Councilor, City of Windsor August 29, 2010
